Nettie B. Massey Coates, 78, of Bowling Green died at 1:52 a.m. Sept. 10, 2003, at Greenview Regional Hospital.The Edmonson County native was a presser for McFarland Laundry, a housewife and a Baptist. She was a daughter of the late James Blane Massey and Abbie Ervin Massey and the wife of the Garvin R. Coates. She was preceded in death by a son, Wayne R. Coates; and a daughter, Helen F. Cline.Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Broadway Avenue chapel, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.Survivors include a daughter, Brenda L. Rone of Bowling Green; a brother, Willard Massey of Chalybeate Springs; a sister, Aline Hogan of Jeffersonville, Ind.; a granddaughter, Shirley L. Higgins of Bowling Green; two grandsons, Mike Coates of Shirley, Ind., and Rob Coates of Fountaintown, Ind.; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
