The Bowling Green Police Department is investigating an early-morning robbery at Minit Mart at Ky. 526 and Louisville Road. Police said at 4:30 this morning a man went in the stores office and closed the door; a female clerk opened the door and asked the man what he was doing and he said looking at the schedule. The clerk told police she then noticed an undetermined amount of money in the mans hand. She questioned him about taking the money, and the man pushed her down and fled the store. Witnesses told police that the man, a white male in his 20s, got into a maroon four-door vehicle and sped away; a witness chased the vehicle but was unable to get its license plate number. A female who had been in the waiting vehicle got out and left on foot. Police said the clerk was taken to The Medical Center, suffering from back pain. No information was available on her condition. A 55-year-old Roundhill man was killed Wednesday in a single-vehicle accident on Lake Road, according to the Warren County Sheriffs Office. James E. Butts was traveling north on Lake Road at 5:49 p.m. when he ran off the right shoulder and overcorrected, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle then crossed the road, struck a tree and then wrapped around another tree, officers said. Butts, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown out of the passenger side of the vehicle. The coroner pronounced him dead at the scene. Deputy Mike Hatler, in a news release, said alcohol may have contributed to the accident, which is under investigation. Burglary Firmon McCormack told city police that someone took several prescription drugs in containers from his unlocked vehicle Monday while it was parked outside his residence in the 1600 block of South Sunrise. Compact discs, valued at $40, were taken along with the drugs, valued at $525.Theft Marvin Young told city police that an 18-speed bike, valued at $350, was taken Friday while it was outside the Parks and Recreation facility on Third Avenue.
