Julia H. BurrFRANKLIN Julia Halcomb Burr, 80, of Franklin died March 6, 2003, at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green. The Simpson County native was a school teacher for Simpson County Schools, a homemaker and a member of Sulpher Spring Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Francis Joseph Halcomb Sr. and Rosa Lee Phelps Halcomb and wife of the late D.B. Burr Jr.Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sulphur Spring Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and 6 a.m. to noon Saturday at Crafton Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Salmons Baptist Church Building Fund, Sulphur Spring Baptist Church Building Fund or Sulphur Spring Cemetery. Survivors include three daughters, Marthena Burr, Mimi Banton and Judy Burr, all of Franklin; a brother, Dr. F.J. Halcomb Jr. of Scottsville; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Anna V. Lethia HuntMORGANTOWN Lethia Hunt, 84, of Beaver Dam died March 6, 2003, at a Beaver Dam nursing home. The Butler County native was a retired Reynolds Metal Co. employee and a member of Belmont General Baptist Church. He was a son of the late James Monroe Hunt and Lurana Elms Hunt. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Smith Funeral Home with burial in Belmont Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Survivors include three sisters, Pernie Flener of Morgantown and Eloda Baxter and Ruie Duvall, both of Louisville; a brother, Erdist Hunt of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews. Mack NobbinRUSSELLVILLE Mack Nobbin, 85, of Russellville died March 6, 2003, at his home. He was a retired deputy sheriff for the Logan County Sheriff Department and a Baptist. He was a son of the late Dink Nobbin and Betsy Hyde. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Young Funeral Home. Survivors include a son, Roger Hines of Adairville; two stepsons, Jackie Starks of Russellville and Leroy Winders of Florida; two daughters, Janet Nobbin Woods of Montgomery, Ala., and Marva Nobbin Mitchell of Sumter, S.C.; a stepdaughter, Angie Bradshaw of Russellville; two brothers, Wilbur Barbee and Gene Barbee, both of Springfield, Tenn.; two sisters, Annie Louise Noblin of Nashville and Faye Barbee of Springfield; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Betty J. SchmitzSCOTTSVILLE Betty Jane Harris Schmitz, 72, of Geneseo, Ill., formerly of Scottsville, died at 9:15 p.m. March 4, 2003, in Scottsville. The Cass County, Ill., native was a retired bus driver for School District 129 in Aurora West, Ill., a member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Fox Valley, Ill., attended New Bethel United Methodist Church in Scottsville and First Congregational Church in Geneseo, assisted in organizing Hessed House Shelter Care Facility in Aurora, was in charge of crop walk and worked as a union steward. She was a daughter of the late Ralph Harris and Ruby Mae Sherrill Harris. She was preceded in death by three brothers and a son-in-law, Kent Weeks. Memorial service will be at a later date. The body was cremated. Local arrangements are under the direction of Goad Funeral Home. Survivors include her husband, Edward F. Schmitz; a son, Keith Schmitz and wife, Ellen, of Normal, Ill.; a daughter, Shirley Schmitz Weeks of Adolphus; a brother, James Harris of Nashville; five sisters, Helen Alimo and Mary Jessen, both of Ottawa, Ill., Bonnie Feeney of Morris, Ill., and Frances Sosa and Bobbie Highland, both of Streator, Ill.; four grandchildren, Amy Schmitz and Eric Schmitz, both of Normal, Denise Ryan of Scottsville and Darren Weeks of Troy, Ohio; and two great-grandchildren, Mattie Ryan and Kent Charles Ryan, both of Scottsville. Geneva E. ThompsonMUNFORDVILLE Geneva Elizabeth Thompson, 78, of Cub Run died at 3:57 a.m. EST March 6, 2003, at Norton Hospital in Louisville. The Hart County native was a homemaker and a Catholic. She was a daughter of the late William Dennis and Christina Frances Heavrin Dennis. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Waddell. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. CST Sunday at Hawkins-Brooks Funeral Home with burial in Center Point Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, and after 9 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Survivors include her husband, Reginald Thompson; three daughters, Barbara Khiani of Louisville and Marilyn Logsdon and Patty Logsdon, both of Cub Run; six sons, James Otto Thompson of Munfordville, Wayne Thompson of Cave City, Steve Thompson of Louisville, Rondall Thompson of Bowling Green, Larry Thompson of Glasgow and Danny Thompson of Cub Run; three sisters, Eunice Marie Hazel, Louvena Pitchford and Dorothy Loree Parrish, all of Louisville; two brothers, James Dennis of Louisville and Edward Dennis of Munfordville; 24 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Harold K. WadeGLASGOW Harold King Wade, 66, of Hiseville died March 6, 2003, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital. The Barren County native was a retired truck driver. He was a son of the late Arthur Wade and Mayme Coomer Wade. He was preceded in death by a son, Timmy Wade. Funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Hiseville Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Survivors include his wife, Jean Wyatt Wade; a daughter, Debbie Walton and husband, Eric, of Park; a son, James Wade; three brothers, Wesley Wade and Kenny Wade, both of Hiseville, and Charlie Wade and wife, Sandy, of Missouri; and four grandchildren, Whitney Renee Wade of Austin and Emily, Katie and Erin Walton, all of Park.
