LEWISBURG Dr. Rufus Jack Freeman, 69, of Lewisburg died at 8:20 a.m. Dec. 28, 2003, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.The Danville native was a pathologist on the staff of Northcrest Medical Center and Sumner County Regional Hospital, a Vietnam War Army veteran and a member of Nashville Pathology Association, Hillsboro Church of Christ, National Horseshoe Pitchers Association, College of American Pathologists and American Medical Association. He was a son of the late James T. Freeman and Nannie Hughes Freeman. He was preceded in death by a son, Jonathon Freeman.Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Nashville, with burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Price Funeral Home and will be from noon to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Funeral Home.Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association Hall of Fame, c/o Dave Loucks, P.O. Box 1628, Penn Valley, CA., 95946.Survivors include his wife, Laura Grise Freeman; three sons, Jack Freeman Jr. of Atlanta, Adam Freeman of West Columbus, S.C., and Burton Freeman of Washington, D.C.; four sisters, Opal Preston, Helen Brown and Jean Sargeant, all of Danville, and Jennie Powell of Maitland, Fla.; three brothers, William O. Freeman of Vandalia, Ohio, Robert Freeman of Danville and Cecil Freeman of Bushnell, Fla.; a stepson, Jesse Goodman of Lewisburg; and a stepdaughter, Sarah Goodman of Lewisburg.
