Charles Wayne Hays, former Munfordville mayor, dies at age 75

MUNFORDVILLE Charles Wayne Hays, 75, of Munfordville died Dec. 27, 2003, at the University of Louisville Hospital.The Warren County native was a retired employee of the Sunbeam Bread Co., a former electrician and former owner, with his wife, of Play Pen Day Care in Munfordville. He served as Munfordville mayor for nearly 11 years and was a member of Our Lady of the Caves Catholic Church. He was a son of the late Morgan Jefferson and Cora Lee Howell Hays. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Hays; a sister, Vivian Dolan; and three brothers, Vernon Hays, Vincent Hays and Victor Hays.Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the WHAS Crusade for Children or to the Cedar Lake Lodge Foundation.Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Sego Funeral Home, with burial in Munfordville Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Rosary service will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.Survivors include his wife, Lavaughn Jaggers Hays; a daughter, Marcia Lenz and her husband, Kenneth, of Louisville; a granddaughter, Morgan Suzanne Lenz of Louisville; a sister, Addie Lee Carlson and her husband, Richard, of Bowling Green; and several nieces and nephews.
