Erwin ButtsErwin Butts, 31, of Bowling Green died Feb. 26, 2003, at The Medical Center. Funeral arrangements, which are incomplete, are under the direction of Burnam & Son Mortuary. Porter KitchensPorter Kitchens, 75, of Bowling Green died at 8 a.m. EST Feb. 22, 2003, at Kindred Hospital in Louisville. The Woodburn native was a member of Whites Chapel United Methodist Church and a World War II Marine Corps veteran. He was a son of the late Ruby Mae Thornton Kitchens and Hubert Fulton Kitchens and husband of the late Barbara Kitchens. Funeral will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Broadway Avenue chapel, with burial in Whites Chapel Church Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Dean of Alpine, Calif.; a brother, Bobby Kitchens of Bowling Green; a sister, Sue Wells of Bowling Green; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Howard N. MedleySCOTTSVILLE Howard Neal Medley, 53, of Adolphus died at 8:25 p.m. Feb. 25, 2003, at a Scottsville nursing home. The Allen County native was a mechanic. He was a son of the late Charles Dolphus Medley and Eva Wagers Medley of Scottsville, who survives. Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Goad Funeral Home with burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Other survivors include two sons, Michael Medley and Gregory Neal Medley, both of Alexandria, Ind.; a brother, Charles Thomas Medley of Scottsville; two sisters, Wilma Sallison of Scottsville and Rosa Smalling of Adolphus; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Jerry L. MintonHARTFORD Jerry Lynn Minton, 60, of Centertown died Feb. 25, 2003, at Ohio County Hospital. The McHenry native was an employee of Nestaway in Beaver Dam, a supervisor at Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems in Morgantown, a Kentucky Colonel, election sheriff at the polls in Centertown, a member and deacon of Centertown Baptist Church and a member of United Mine Workers of America. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Centertown Baptist Church with burial in Centertown Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at Duke-Bevil Brothers Funeral Home and from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the church. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Ronald McDonald House in Nashville. Donations may be made at the funeral home. Gary G. SheltonSCOTTSVILLE Gary Gardner Shelton, 54, of Scottsville died at 11:47 a.m. Feb. 26, 2003 at The Medical Center. The Warren County native was an elementary supervisory for Allen County Schools, a Vietnam War Army veteran, a youth Sunday school teacher, a member and deacon of Scottsville Baptist Church, a lifetime member of the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches, the Allen County Foster Care Review Board, Kentucky Association of School Administrators and Gideons International. He was a son of the late Milburn Morris Shelton and Hattie Ruth Gardner Shelton of Lewisburg, who survives. Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Scottsville Baptist Church with burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Goad Funeral Home. Grace H. SkaggsBROWNSVILLE Grace Houchin Skaggs, 88, of Jacksonville, Fla., died Feb. 22, 2003, at Hospice Community Hospital of Northern Florida in Jacksonville. The Edmonson County native was a guidance counselor for Edmonson and Jefferson county schools. She was a daughter of the late Calvin D. Houchin and Rosa Ellen Denham Houchin and wife of the late Stinson Skaggs. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Pleasant Union United Baptist Church, where she was a member, with burial in Pleasant Union Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Patton Funeral Home in Brownsville. Survivors include two daughters, Kaye S. Elmore and husband, Larry, of Jacksonville and Saundra S. Hujo and husband, Bob, of Orange Park, Fla.; a sister, Ruth Skaggs of Brownsville; a brother, Calvin D. The Davidson County, Tenn., native was a homemaker and a member of Fairview Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late John Meadors and Olive Mae Sutter Meadors. Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home with burial in Allen County Memorial Gardens. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home. Survivors include her husband, Bobby Williams; three sons, Jimmy Nichols of Adolphus, William Nichols of Franklin and Wayne Nichols of Nashville; three daughters, Clara Smith of Franklin, Betty Lynn McKenzie of Nashville and Shirley Center of Adolphus; 31 grandchildren; a stepson, Bobby Gene Ford of Franklin; 55 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
