Man charged with shoplifting at Kroger

A Bowling Green man was arrested Tuesday on charges of shoplifting food and damaging merchandise, valued at $161, at a supermarket, according to a city police report.Darrell Wardlow, 39, is charged with theft by unlawful taking under $300 and third-degree criminal mischief.According to the report, officers were called to Kroger at 2945 Scottsville Road at 8:08 a.m. for a fight in progress. An employee reportedly observed Wardlow stuffing raw steak in his coat. When the employee attempted to stop him, he fought. While trying to escape, he knocked over a display rack, damaging merchandise.Wardlow was released from the Warren County Regional Jail on a $500 unsecured bond.
