Halloween brings thousands of youngsters to the streets in southcentral Kentucky, a fact that doesnt go unnoticed by law enforcement authorities in the region. Most, including the Warren County Sheriffs Department, plan to have extra patrols out during the evening. Bridges and overpasses, often the launch point for pumpkins and eggs, will be thoroughly watched, officers said. All communities will be trick-or-treating Friday, with the exception of Franklin. Franklin moved trick-or-treating to today because of the increased traffic that will be in town for the Franklin-Simpson/Bowling Green football game. Franklin trick-or-treat hours will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.The rest of the regions trick-or-treat hours will be the following: 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Bowling Green.; from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Russellville; until 6:30 p.m. in Morgantown; 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Glasgow; and by 7 p.m. in Brownsville and in Scottsville. There are numerous organized celebrations or haunted houses for the holiday both today and Friday. Hillvue Heights and Eastwood Baptist churches will present Harvest Fest. The churches event, which will be open to the community, will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Hillvue Heights on Nashville Road. Admission is one canned food item per person. Harvest Fest will benefit H.O.T.E.L. I.N.C. Helping Others Through Extended Love In the Name of Christ. Franklins United Methodist Church will have Trunk or Treat the community from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. tonight on the west side of the citys square. The following churches will also have alternatives to Halloween or Harvest Fest celebrations on Friday: Forest Park Baptist Church, Faith United Methodist Church; Crossroads in Russellville; Living Word Church in Adairville; Pleasant Union Baptist Church in Lewisburg. For more information about alternative Halloween celebrations, call individual churches. Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Department will have a Halloween Party and Dance for youths in grades 5 and under at 4 p .m. today at Parker Bennett Community Center. Admission is free. A costume dance for youths in grades 6-9 is at 7 p .m. Friday at the Parks and Recreation Community Room. Cost is $2 with a costume or dressed up or $4 without a costume. For more information, call the parks department at 393-3249. First United Methodist Church in Franklin will have The Pumpkin Patch from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Friday. Children in grades preschool through 6 will get a snack and a story. Pumpkins will be available for sale on the church lawn. Proceeds benefit Four Corners Indian Reservation, which provides pumpkins for the event, and the churchs youth group. For more information, call the church at (270) 586-5152.The Haunted Asylum will be from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday at Aberdeen under the water tower. Signs will be posted. Admission is $4 for adults and $3 for children ages 15 and under. All proceeds will benefit Shriners Childrens Hospital. Hell House VI, located on Ky. 231 between Bowling Green and Scottsville, will be open from 7 p.m. to about 11:30 p.m. tonight. Admission is $6.Skeletons Lair, located on Cemetery Road one mile past the Allen County line, will be open from 7 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Photos with a creepy show actor may be bought for $3 before the half-hour haunted woods trip begins. Part of the proceeds from the event will go to the American Red Cross. Haunted Woods, located at 8346 Bowling Green Road at Auburn behind Savannahs Flower Shop at Lucys Pumpkin Patch, will be open from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for children. There will be a ghost tour at 10 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Friday at Western Kentucky University. The tour will leave from the steps of Van Meter Hall. For more information, contact Tamela Williams Maxwell at 745-5523. The Medical Center will X-ray childrens candy from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday. Parents and children should use the entrance to The Medical Center Diagnostics located next to the outpatient entrance. The service is free.
