James Edgar Slaughter, 65, of Bowling Green died at 12:42 a.m. July 1, 2002, at University of Louisville Hospital.The Warren County native was construction superintendent for Western Kentucky Gas Co. and a former member of Jaycees and Senators Club. He was a son of the late James E. Slaughter and Margaret Askew Slaughter.Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, where he was a member, with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Lovers Lane chapel. Prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to James Graham Brown Cancer Center in Louisville.Survivors include his wife, Martha Susan Sadler Slaughter; two daughters, Jennifer Katherine Wheeler of Nashville and Jane Ann Simpson of Louisville; two sons, James Patrick Slaughter of Bowling Green and Jason Edgar Slaughter of Nashville; two sisters, Shirley Jo Nuzzo of Perth Amboy, N.J., and Laura Katherine Cummings of Versailles; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
