ACWORTH, Ga. William Phelps Wink Winkenhofer, 63, of Kennesaw, formerly of Bowling Green, Ky., died April 8, 2002.The Bowling Green native was a funeral director, owned several funeral homes in Smyrna, Kennesaw and Austell and Knoxville, Tenn., formerly worked with Bailey-Turner-Winkenhofers Heritage Funeral Home in Bowling Green and was in the process of opening a new funeral home in Acworth. He served on the board of directors of the North Georgia State Fair, formerly served on the Cobb County Water Authority, was active in many civic and community projects and was an Army veteran. He was a son of the late Arnold Winkenhofer and Rita Phelps Winkenhofer.Funeral will be at 11 a.m. EDT Thursday at New Salem Baptist Church in Kennesaw, where he was a member. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. EDT Wednesday at Collins Funeral Home and will begin at 9:30 a.m. EDT Thursday at the church. Bailey-Turner-Winkenhofer Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.Survivors include his wife, Barbara Winkenhofer; a daughter, Kelly Winkenhofer of Kennesaw; five sons, Harry Nettles III of Marathon, Fla., Mark Nettles of Stanfield, N.C., Mike Nettles of Midland, N.C., George Nettles of Smyrna and Chuck Taylor of White Lake, Mich.; a sister, Rita Goodson of McDonough; and a brother, Carl Sonny Winkenhofer of Palm Beach, Fla.
