James E. Bailey, 85, of Bowling Green died at 5:20 p.m. Feb. 25, 2002, at The Medical Center.The Warren County native was a retired guard at Holley Carburetor and a World War II Army veteran with a Tech 5 rank, a former Warren County Sheriffs Department deputy bailiff and deputy jailer, a former employee at Bettersworth Motor Co. and Butler Motors and a member of Bethany Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Nancy Walthall Bailey and Lon E. Bailey. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennivee Bailey.Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Broadway Avenue chapel, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.Survivors include his wife, Gertrude Willoughby Bailey; three sons, Burdell Bailey and Joe Bailey, both of Bowling Green, and Dallas Bailey of Alvaton; three daughters, Jenea Martin, Roneka Jean Meredith and Belle Woods, all of Bowling Green; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
