Now that all the Christmas presents have been opened, its time to go shopping again. Many stores opened early today and offered deep discounts on leftover Christmas items, including wrapping paper, decorations and lights. Stella Clemmons of Bowling Green was at Wal-Mart this morning when it opened at 6 a.m. then she headed to Target, which opened at 7 a.m.Ive got a head start on my Christmas shopping for 2003, Clemmons said. Nice things. Clemmons shops with her three daughters every year on the day after Christmas. We go out, we shop, we get here really early, she said. Then after we hit all the stores, we go have breakfast. The quartet uses cell phones to keep up with each other in the stores. This is as much fun as shopping before Christmas, Clemmons said. Everything goes half price and less. Clemmons and her daughters shop the day after Thanksgiving, also. We usually shop the whole day that day, she said. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Roxanne Robertson and her daughter, Shawna Garrett, had three carts full of wrapping paper, decorations and next years presents at Target this morning. Youve got to have a mission, Garrett said. Multiple vehicles is key. Robertson said the easiest way to shop is to position one person in an empty aisle, like the automotive section, and bring the items to the cart. Another good tip is to send another person in your party to another store to get a jump, which is what she and Garrett did with Garretts sister. This is the first time Robertson has joined her daughters shopping on the day after Christmas. She had to work last year. This time, shes with us, Garrett said. Tamma Campbell of Bowling Green was shopping for wrapping paper for next Christmas at Wal-Mart this morning with her daughter, Tiffani. The duo sets out every Dec. 26 morning to check out the sales. I told her to ask for money for Christmas, Tamma Campbell said. You can buy more after than before (Christmas).Wal-Mart was the first stop for the Campbells. Tamma Campbell said they will probably visit six stores today. No make-up, no hair just go, Tamma Campbell said. Sandy Lee and her daughter, Jonna, drove to Bowling Green from Butler County this morning to get the deals. This was the first time they came out early on the day after Christmas. I usually have to work, Jonna Lee said. The Lees were mainly looking at Christmas items. We havent looked at anything else, Jonna Lee said. Sandy Lee has never started Christmas shopping this early before. Its not a bad plan, she said. The number of cars on the roads have decreased since a couple of days ago. The traffic is nice in the morning, Jonna Lee said. We just cruised on through, Sandy Lee said. Brenda Pendleton of Auburn already had next years presents in her cart Wal-Mart this morning. She and her family arrived at the store at about 7 a.m.We left home early, she said. Pendleton said she planned to visit Big Lots, Freds and Kmart before heading back to Auburn. They have the best buys, Pendleton said.
