Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar
Make no mistake, Buffalo Wild Wings is a sports bar, even if their name doesnt say so. If your idea is to eat and every once in a while, yell out, Wooooo! this is the place for you. Or, if you were a Dad who is in charge of the kids for a while, you would fit right in. Just let em loose nobody will notice or care. We visited on a Sunday afternoon when the Tennessee Titans were playing. A few females were around, but this afternoon was generally a time for testosterone. Buffalo Wild Wings is basically a fast-food place without the drive-through. You place your order at the counter, get your own drinks (unless its alcohol) and find a place to sit. The person who takes your order gives you one of those electronic gadgets usually used to let you know when your table is ready at Buffalo Wild Wings, it lets you know when your food is ready. You then wave it in the air to help the server locate your position. After asking the order taker what was her favorite thing on the menu, she recommended the Buffalitos, designated on the menu as a signature item. She didnt mention having wings, which seems unusual; after all, wings is in the name of the establishment. I chose the Caribbean Jerk Buffalito and my companion ordered a chicken quesadilla and a side of onion rings. Buffalitos are soft flour tortillas with chicken, Caribbean jerk sauce, sour cream, mozzarella cheese, shredded lettuce, diced tomato and onion. Theyre topped with chunks of pineapple and blue corn chips. Overall, the Buffalito was pretty ordinary. Were not talking about expensive ingredients here, so the serving size was very disappointing. All the ingredients were there, just in very small amounts. Caribbean jerk sauce can be as variable as barbecue sauce. Its usually about in the middle of the scale for hotness, and Buffalo Wild Wings jerk sauce was about right in that area. It was good, though I wish there was more chicken to enjoy it with. The quesadilla was also average typical fast-food fare. There was no sour cream served with either dish. There were only seven onion rings in the order. Is there an onion shortage? For $3.49, wouldnt you expect more than seven onion rings? Thats 50 cents per ring, and some of those rings were mighty small. The only bright spot was the sauce on the side to dip the rings in. It was excellent. Lets face it, Buffalo Wild Wings is a place you go to graze, drink beer and watch the game. Food is definitely secondary to serving beer. An unusual pastime to keep the non-sports fan occupied is a national network trivia game. You can log on at your table (with a remote keyboard provided by the server) and play for real with a chance to win prizes, or just play along as the trivia questions are flashed on the TV.True to all sports bars, this one had the required big screen TVs, as well as smaller, strategically placed screens visible from almost every table. Add in neon beer signs and a few sports banners, and there you have Buffalo Wild Wings. The reviewer is employed at the Daily News.
