BG cheerleaders take national title

The Bowling Green High Schools varsity co-ed cheerleaders defended their Cheerleaders of America National title Sunday in Jacksonville, Fla.The squad has won five COA national championships in the last six years with back-to-back wins in 1995 and 1996 and again in 1998, 1999 and 2000.Todd Ray and Lindsey Ardrey came in second in the Co-ed Partner Stunts Division and Patrick Bray and Lauren Martin placed third in the division.Dana Emberton-Tinius, science teacher and former UK cheerleeader is the cheerleading coach at Bowling Green. Assistant coaches are Tom Jones, Sarah Jones and Clinton Cooper.
