Two killed in interstate crash

HORSE CAVE Kentucky State Police suspect alcohol was involved in an accident Wednesday that claimed the lives of two Hardyville residents and left two others including a 2-year-old girl in serious condition.Ronnie Carroll, 42, was driving south on Fairview Church-Pascal Road just more than 10 miles east of Horse Cave when his car and a northbound car traveling on the wrong side of the road collided about 2:15 p.m.Carroll and a passenger in the other vehicle, Vickie Rice, 38, were killed. The driver of the northbound car, Charles Reed, 42, of Hardyville was flown to University of Louisville Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition this morning.A second passenger in Reeds car, 2-year-old LouAnn Cobb of Hardyville, was flown from T.J. Sampson Hospital in Glasgow to Kosair Childrens Hospital in Louisville, where she was listed in serious condition this morning.Police said none of the people involved in the accident was wearing a seat belt; the toddler was in a child-restraint seat, but the seat was not secured to the car.While blood-alcohol test results had not been released this morning, state police believe alcohol played a role in the accident, Trooper Nick Stephens said.
