MORGANTOWN — Laymon D. Smith, 53, of Morgantown died Oct. 1, 1999, at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green.The Butler County native was a sawmill operator and a coal miner. He was a son of the late Frank Smith and Nora Shepherd Smith.Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Smith Funeral Home with burial in Newton Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. today at the funeral home.Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Baize Smith; a daughter, Carolyn Faye West of Morgantown; a son, Laymond Darrell Smith of Morgantown; four brothers, Earl Smith and Billy Smith, both of Morgantown, and Kenneth Smith and Bobby Smith, both of Bowling Green; five sisters, Diane Phelps of Henderson, Ruby Phelps and Faye Hudnall, both of Beaver Dam, Mae Clark of Gary, Ind., and Dale Henderson of Morgantown; and a grandson.
