A new business that could employ up to 450 people is considering opening in Bowling Green. But the unidentified company first wants to make sure that the area has a large enough available work force to accommodate it. To do this, the business will host a job fair Thursday at the former All About Sports building off Campbell Lane. The major company is an out-sourcing customer-service agent for several companies and has more than one site in the United States. Further detail couldnt be released until the company makes a decision, said Margaret Grissom, Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce president. But she characterized the positions as white-collar jobs requiring lower-level technical skills. Employment requirements include having a high school diploma or GED, customer service experience, keyboard and computer knowledge and an excellent attendance history. Salary would be $7.50 an hour, plus incentives and benefits. If the business locates in Bowling Green, it would be a first for the community, but it might not be the only one. The chamber also is working with another customer service company that would require a higher degree of skills, Grissom said. This is the type of business that will offer a new dimension of employment for our region, Warren County Judge-Executive Mike Buchanon said. We need to be able to offer different levels of employment in all sectors. The job fair will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday. Those unable to attend can get applications at the Department for Employment Services through Oct. 8.If there is a positive outcome at the job fair, its likely the company will locate here, Grissom said.
