BG Area Chamber of Commerce wins economic development award
The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce recently won an award from the International Economic Development Council, a Washington D.C.-based organization that helps provide leadership in economic development for communities.
During the IEDC conference, the local chamber competed in the category of regionalism and cross-border collaboration for areas with populations between 50,000 and 200,000.
The chamber won first place for its menu of services program, which helps ensure that every county in the region is served by either its own economic development professional or by the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce.
The chamber unveiled the program in July 2008 after it recognized that counties that did not have economic development professionals were behind in terms of readiness for industry projects and economic growth.
“Our chamber staff works diligently with our regional partners to provide a top quality menu of services program because the chamber understands the value of the regional approach to economic development,” Todd Davis, chairman of the chamber’s board of directors, said in a news release.
“We’re proud of this award and thank our regional partners for their participation in this program.”
The chamber also recently unveiled its newest marketing effort.
The campaign, dubbed My Chamber, features a new logo that will be used in television and radio commercials.
The chamber will use the new campaign to promote itself and allow partners to promote their businesses through multiple media outlets.
The new campaign stemmed from the 2009 Chamber of the Year Award, which the chamber received.
