In reference to Sunday’s article on the update to the possible downtown hotel and Mr. Musselman’s consideration of building a Marriott property near Western, I applaud the concept and would like to add the idea that comes from my alma mater, Michigan State University, and its on-campus hotel and convention center, The Kellogg Center.
The Kellogg Center is run in part by Hotel and Restaurant Administration student majors and holds the reputation in the area for fine dining and excellent hotel accommodations for visiting parents, teams and conventions. Taking this idea, the Marriott/Western concept hotel and alumni center should be used to further develop Western’s Hotel and Restaurant Administration curriculum by interning students with working credit hours at the new hotel and alumni center.
A win/win for Western, the students and Mr. Musselman. A college major of this type seems to fit well in the Bowling Green and Nashville area with the number or restaurants and convention/tourism businesses in the region.
