WKU track squads compete

The Western Kentucky track and field teams traveled to a pair of meets over the weekend in the Volunteer State, with action at the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville and the Boston Moon Classic in Nashville.

The Lady Topper 4x400-meter relay team of Miaie Williams, Kellie Morrison, Alecia Brown and Valerie Brown placed fourth in a NCAA regional-qualifying time of 3:38.57, bettering the WKU record in the event by 31/2 seconds.

At Boston Moon, Steve Wilson won the men’s 800-meter run in a time of 1:54.24, while also taking third in the long jump at 22-11.25. Also claiming two top-three finishes was Andrew Campbell, who was third in the shot with a put of 46-11 and third in the discus with a throw of 140-5. Asa Dew recorded a season-best mark of 48-8.25 in the triple jump, while Jessica Delaunay was third in the women’s long jump with a leap of 17-11.50. Also, in the women’s 1,500 meters, Eimear O’Brien took second with a time of 4:42.74, while Natalie Leeper was third at 4:54.75.
