BGDN names Holt as assistant ad director

Misty Holt is the new assistant advertising director at the Daily News in Bowling Green.

Holt attended Arkansas State University.

She has worked in newspaper advertising sales for 10 years and began her career at the Manchester Enterprise in Manchester.

Holt has worked at the Daily News since January 2000. Holt and her husband, Eric, have one child, Taylor.

Mayor appoints Hightower to board

Chip Hightower was appointed by Mayor Elaine Walker to the Planning and Zoning Design Review Board-Urban Growth. He will serve a two-year term.

Hightower is a Realtor and broker for Coldwell Banker Legacy Real Estate and has more than 12 years of experience.

Hightower is also on the board of trustees at Broadway United Methodist Church and a graduate of Leadership Bowling Green class of 2000.

He has served on the Downtown Redevelopment Board, is a board member for Community Action of Southern Kentucky and Potter Children's Home. Hightower is married with three children.

Lassiter gets most votes in board election

Jody Lassiter, executive director of Logan Economic Alliance for Development, received the highest number of votes among eight candidates from across Kentucky to win a full, three-year term on the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Association for Economic Development. KAED boasts a statewide membership of 485 people.

Lassiter's election was announced in conjunction with KAED's annual conference Nov. 9 in Bowling Green, for which he served on the Regional Host Committee.

KAED named Lassiter to an interim vacancy on its Board of Directors in August to serve until the seat was filled through the board election. He was nominated by his colleagues in Campbellsville/Taylor County, Morganfield/Union County and Owensboro/Daviess County as a candidate for election to a full term on the KAED Board of Directors.

KAED, formerly the Kentucky Industrial Development Council, is Kentucky's primary state membership organization designed to promote economic development and the economic development profession within the commonwealth.

Lassiter said his primary goal is to help KAED be a more aggressive voice for public policies and programs that empower smaller, rural communities like Logan County with the tools to thrive in the modern, global economy.

Bayne Million named as VP at Wendy's

Bayne Million recently joined Wendy's of Bowling Green as vice president of sales and marketing.

Million is a 20-year Wendy's marketing veteran.

For the past 17 years, he worked for the parent company in field marketing for the southeast region in Atlanta. Million was responsible for sales at 500 Wendy's advertising agencies. In 2005, he was recognized for his efforts.

“I wanted to move to Bowling Green years ago, but my daughters were still in school. The quality of life here, the values of the people and this top level Wendy's franchise were the reasons to relocate,” Million said.

Bayne is a native of New Orleans and has a bachelor of arts degree in education from Emory University and a master's degree in advertising from the Grady School of Journalism at the University of Georgia. He completed fellowships at Loyola University and American University.

Bayne and his wife, Tricia, recently celebrated their 25th anniversary, and they have two daughters, Brooke and Katherine.

Local driver earns GrowMaster status

Billy Hittson earned a maintenance award and GrowMaster certification from Southern States.

The GrowMaster certification is awarded for application rigs maintained in top condition.

Richmond, Va.-based Southern States conducts regional truck “rodeos” to emphasize the importance of top flight vehicle maintenance an accurate fertilizer and crop protection product application.

Dale named council member of the year

Brian Dale, executive director of the Cave City Tourist Commission, was named 2006 Kentucky Tourism Council Member of the Year.

Gov. Ernie Fletcher and Tourism Council Chairman Sherry Crose presented the award to Dale on Oct. 24 at the Kentucky Tourism Industry annual conference in Louisville.

BG Visitors Bureau honored in Louisville

The Bowling Green Area Convention and Visitors Bureau received four awards from its division in the Kentucky Tourism Council 2006 Traverse Awards for Excellence in Tourism Marketing competition.

The bureau received honorable mentions for the “Get Rolling to Bowling Green” marketing campaign, the Bowling Green Area Visitors Guide, its television advertising and its Web site, www.visitbgky.com.

The awards presentation was Oct. 24 during and evening gala at the Executive West Hotel in Louisville as part of the Kentucky Tourism Industry annual conference.

Ben Smith named to '07 financial council

Ben Smith, a registered principal and financial adviser at the 1240 Ashley Circle office of Raymond James Financial Services, was named to the firm's 2007 executive council in recognition of his client service and professional growth.

Executive Council honors are presented only to those financial advisors who have demonstrated an extremely high level of commitment to clients through personal service and professional integrity.

Smith, who joined Raymond James in 2005, has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry.

Dunham's Sports opens Friday at mall

Michigan-based Dunham's Sports opens Friday in Greenwood Mall.

The store has a full line of name-brand merchandise, hunting and fitness department and shoes.

The store is open from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.
